Ground Face Concrete Masonry Units

The Product

Grinding concrete masonry units reveals theGround Face Block natural beauty of interior aggregates and offers a rich appearance. Integral color combined with the aggregate displayed once the units are ground add interest and depth to any concrete masonry project. Resembling polished stone, ground face units can add a "smooth" premium architectural unit to your product line. The opportunities for ground face block are limited only by your imagination. Units can be produced featuring a variety of colors and aggregate blends to customize appearance. Options include grinding one or two faces, the top and/or bottom of solid units, or the ends for corners and columns.  Ground face block can be full face, single score or double score. Scores can be horizontal (across the face of the unit) or vertical (down the face of the unit). Recent studies show that sealed ground face units are extremely resistant to scuff marks and graffiti making ground face perfect for public buildings such as educational facilities.

 

The Equipment

Besser offers a Concrete Products Grinder and Cutter System to produce ground face units. This versatile system allows the flexibility to manufacture specialty products such as groundBesser Concrete Products Grinder and Cutter System face and scored units in a variety of shapes and sizes.

The modular design of the system allows for multiple head operations. Up to five stations are available. The stations can hold either a grinding head or scoring blades. This versatility allows for quick and easy changeovers. An adjustable head provides the flexibility to grind products with heights ranging from 1" (25 mm) to 18" (450 mm). The water spray system suppresses dust, rinses the ground face of the product and scrubs the heads to prevent material build up. The system is completely automatic. Speed of operation is rated at up to 980 units/hour depending on depth of cut for an 18" (450 mm) system or up to 1500 units/hour for a 24" (600 mm) system.
