information contact: New Master Blockmakers™ The number of Master Blockmakers™ continues to increase as more Blockmaker Workshops® are completed at Alpena Community College in Alpena, Michigan. Ernesto Barroso is the second person from Northfield Block Company of Mundelein, Illinois to become a Master Blockmaker™. Ernesto completed the Concrete Masonry Technology course in February, 2000. Timothy Huffman is the fifth employee of Peerless Block & Brick in St. Albans, West Virginia to complete the requirements set forth by the Master Blockmaker™ program. Timothy attended the Concrete Masonry Technology course in March, 2000. Ronald Burns of Fidler, Inc in Goshen, Indiana is the first person from Fidler to achieve Master Blockmaker™ status. Ronald participated in the Electronic Controls workshop in March, 2000. Thomas Good of Oberfield’s, Inc. in Delaware, Ohio, may be the trend setter for his company, as he is the first person from Oberfield’s to earn this prestigious title. Thomas completed the Electronic Controls course in March, 2000. Norman Phair of Tarmac America in Medley, Florida has also earned Master Blockmaker™ certification after completing the Electronic Controls workshop in March, 2000. Rodney Ross of Tarmac America in Deerfield Beach, Florida also attended the Electronic Controls course in March. This was his final requirement for earning Master Blockmaker™ certification. Ronald Warring, Jr. of CSR Rinker also earned Mater Blockmaker™ certification after attending the Electronic Controls course in March, 2000. Ronald is the second person from CSR Rinker to earn this prestigious title. Blockmakers Workshops® originated in 1954 to assist in developing qualified professionals in the concrete products industry. The workshops are a joint partnership between Alpena Community College and Besser Company of Alpena, Michigan. A Master Blockmaker™ is someone who has successfully completed five predetermined courses that prepare the individual in the efficient and effective production of quality concrete products.
